I've created this sound for a War of the Lance campaign, from the Dungeons and Dragons RPG. In the novel Dragons of Autumn, when the heroes descend the paths of the dead towards the Hall of the Ancestors, they hear the sounds of the process of operating the gully dwarven lift: first the gongs of the draconians in the lower city, warning that there is a group to go up, then the whips to get the dwarves into the bucket, followed by the immense noise of gears and chains, and finally the impact of the iron pot on the floor of the lower cave. I've made this ambient sound in Audacity, mixing the following sounds:

If you want to recreate that atmosphere in your game, you can play that sound before the heroes start exploring the Hall. You can download the map I've created for this scene here: https://www.patreon.com/posts/48808455
Enjoy.
