Lincoln Center Plaza @ Upper West Side
Time Window 2
Wednesday, 7 June 2017
This is a soundscape recording at Lincoln Center Plaza on the Upper West Side, New York. These recordings were acquired as a part of a study conducted to evaluate the relationship between the urban acoustic environment of big-city neighborhoods and the socio-economic and demographic conditions by extracting and identifying the acoustic events of each recording as well as their saliency and soundscape component data.
This recording is one in a series of recordings across 7 neighborhoods, spanning 8 locations in Manhattan and Brooklyn of different noise severity levels, as identified through the NYC311 Noise Map.
For each location, recording sessions were conducted over the course of three days (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday), and over four time windows (TW) on each day to reflect the ever changing acoustic environment of each location and for range. Each soundscape was recorded for approximately 30 minutes in length. Time windows are as such:
(i) TW1: 0900 - 1200
(ii) TW2: 1300 - 1600
(iii) TW3: 1700 - 2000
(iv) TW4: 2100 - 0000
All soundscapes were recorded on a Zoom H4N Pro at 24-bit/44.1 kHz.
