One of the rarest and most remarkable sounds on earth: Big escargot (also called Burgundy snail, edible snail or Roman snail [lat. Helix pomatia]) nibbling on a lettuce leave in a flower vase in our kitchen. The faint scratching, rasping noise of the radula is only to be heard from very close. Perhaps this is the only mollusk able to produce a sound. I put the H2 Zoom recorder (highest mic gain) at a distance of approximately 10 cm. As You can imagine there is a high level of ambient noise.
