I can't see what's wrong with WAV... In this particular application, why do you think that FLAC would be better than WAV? The only thing about why FLAC is better is smaller size. But, this is so mall size that actually doesn't matter if the file has 2 or 1.4 MB.
The other thing that cross my mind is simply a fashion, which has nothing to do with a serious approach. But, if someone wants to act as a professional, that person would do everything to make people feel comfortable while working with his/hers file(s).
