This sequence of notes, which to me sounds like an ominous build-up to an event, has been synthesized using a freeware program known as Kangas Sound Editor ( http://www.kangasound.com/ )
This sound is based on the existing sound "Five drum set" (see linked sound file), but uses a pulse wave instead of a sine wave in its construction.
The currently released Kangas Sound Editor (4.2.0) constructs sounds only from sine waves; the pulse wave used in the construction of this sound has been made possible by a special development version of the software.
