Three whip-poor-wills declaring their territories, north, east and west, on a sultry calm evening with early fireflies. The other higher-pitched sound is a tree frog.

Just fyi, the geotag is just generically in Quebec; the actual location is 45.5718, -76.2374
Whip-poor-wills have been declining here due to habitat loss and nest predation by wild turkeys introduced in the past 20 years or so.
The turkeys were introduced for hunting, and have multiplied dramatically since there are very few natural predators. As another unwelcome consequence, fishers are more common as they seem to have learned how to kill roosting turkeys like the much less common bobcats and lynx would do.
