I needed the sound of an old machinery engine in funcion, but it had not to be identified as a diesel or whatever, so I designed this sound.
Inside it, there are an electric oven, an old clock mechanism, a rumble I created with a mix of wind, water and fire, and another rumble created with a tone generator.
During the recordings of the oven and the clock, I moved the microphone a lot, so the final sound is quite variable and "alive".

sounds like it could be an old table model fan. Metal black with oil running out of the bottom of it. A protective wire frame that does no good at all.
Or, an old motor running a grinder.
