The Trans-Siberian Railway sound archive (2019-) is a collection of field recordings made during a train-trip from Vladivostok to Helsinki in the autumn of 2019. The sound clips document complete train maintenance work cycles performed by engineers, the movement of passengers at various stations and the ambience of different train compartments. Focus is given to details such as the train toilet, the rattle of a wagon samovar, and the work of the train-steward. Initially the archive could only be accessed locally by joining a Mazizone network at the Alkovi space in Helsinki, where the archive was a part of the "In Various Stages of Ruins: Denial" exhibition. A selection of the archive is released trough Freesound and bundled with short notes on movement and camaraderie. More information on the exhibition: http://www.linnake.net/invariousstagesofruins.html
