On the website https://www.lightningmaps.org you can see live where and when there is a lightning discharge in the world. It has a delay of about 2 seconds, which is not much.
The nice thing about the site is that you can zoom in on an area and by pressing the speaker button you will hear clicks that represent discharges. and that in STEREO. Very nice. This is what you hear. left is north and south America and right is Europe and Africa.
