AUDIO EXPERIMENT, please comment;
This is an experiment with two different quality microphones;
1] Sennheiser MKH50 top of the range super cardioid microphone (right).
2] Rode NTG1 mid-range cardioid microphone with some noise (left)
The research question: Is it possible to make a good recording with two such different microphones?
I tested different microphone setups; AB30 AB40 NOS setup.
What is did: I went to a very quiet natural environment (polder) where there are few details. This will make the noise from the microphones more prominent.
The gain of the Sound Device 302 mixer is set to maximum, the Tascam dr-100 Mk2 too.
Later I edited the files in Audacity in the following way.
a] turn on the spectrogram
b] look for the quietest moment in the long track, so no birds and wind, etc.
c] determine the noise of that moment, look at the effects of Audacity
d] perform noise reduction. In my case between -2 and -4 dB).
e] get a good balance and you're done.
Listen to the result yourself and give your comment on the result. Thank you.
