Quiet wintry forest in the Netherlands. There is hardly any wind. It's just after eleven in the morning.
A great spotted woodpecker hammers some food from under the tree bark. A dog barks in the distance. People also come to this area to walk, but they are at a reasonable distance. Sometimes you hear there voices in the distance.
The Short-Toed Treecreeper with her very high-pitched vocals. The great tit that sings very carefully that spring is coming, but that is only very occasionally. He doubts, as do I. It is still too cold and the days are short. Carrion Crows sometimes call.
Suddenly two Great Spotted woodpeckers start a conversation. Or are these the first signs that they need to claim their territory? I don't know, I'm not an ornithologist.
A Eurasian Wren keeps flying close to the microphones. You hear the rapid wing beat. After fifteen minutes, he starts yelling loudly nearby and at the microphones. His friend had started a little earlier, but at a further distance. There are always those careful scary brothers. When the brutal wren notices that the microphones are not responding at all and are therefore not dangerous, he leaves the battlefield resigned.
The Wren flit about some more, the Carrion Crows finish my sound shooting, and I go home.
Until next time.
