A wide river with industry. Most of the time it is not more than the hum of the industrial environment.
(View on Shell plant)
My microphones are located along the 'Hollands Diep', a wide river that runs underneath Rotterdam, towards the North Sea.
There is a constant humming from industry and shipping.
The village of 'Moerdijk', where I am now, is enclosed between the highways and industry. It was said that the village would be sacrificed to industry. Fortunately, that did not happen. Residents do everything to breathe new life into the village.
The microphones are placed in a westerly direction. As a result, the river noise is mainly right and the noise of the heavy industry right in front of me. Even the unmistakable deep deep thud of the Shell refinery 4 km away can sometimes be heard here. There is still 3 km of industry between the Shell and my location. I love this industrial humming sound.
On the right, on the other side of the river, military helicopters are flying. We hear them here every day now because Trump is taking his troops out of Germany. The equipment is shipped from Rotterdam. After 45 minutes an Apache helicopter comes over us.
The seagulls and the small waves give a nice accent to this shot some moments.
If you listen carefully, you will hear the fisherman of the picture, his lures throw in the water. He wants to catch a zander.
