March 24th 2020, 8-10 pm, covid19 day 26. 2 hour recording.
Due to the Corona virus, there is little traffic this early evening in March 2020 around 8 pm in this city in the South of The Netherlands.
Families can be outside together. Children can still play together, but there is now debate. Everyone must also keep their distance from one another. The measures currently apply until 1 June, but that can change every day.
Only one person per ten square meters may remain in the shops. You must use a shopping cart and thus keep your distance from the other. If you don't behave you risk a hefty fine. A man who deliberately coughed at a police officer saying he was infected with the Corona virus has to go to prison for three months. So no jokes.
I hear the first plane after thirty minutes. That is different without Corona. The airspace is almost completely empty. No condensation streaks from aircraft. Unbelievable. Once in a lifetime now I hope. I hated the planes before, but now everything and every thought has changed permanently.
We no longer clap for the hospital staff. Strangely enough, corona life is getting used to.
But will the world change forever when everything is over? We will finally stop with those useless cruises and air travel. Will we start producing locally and stop buying cheap products from all over the world? Viruses will be disappointed that they can no longer spread so easily. Then the earth becomes a bit cleaner. I hope so.
