Two old Dutch man sing ‘Droomland’ (dreamland). A Dutch translation of ‘Beautiful isle of somewhere’, an American song from 1897 .
The Dutch translation or actual editing is by the music publisher J.Poeltuyn, who served as the pseudonym Johnny Ditch. He made a less religiously-tinted song, but in the Dutch version, the tune of the song is that "somewhere far from here" exists a country where no harm can exist ". "Dreamland" was put on record by Willy Derby in 1934.
Dutch lyrics:
heerlijk land van mijn dromen
ergens hier ver vandaan
waar ik zo graag wil komen
daar waar geen leed kan bestaan
ref.
droomland droomland
oh ik verlang zo naar droomland
daar is steeds vree
dus ga met mij mee
samen naar 't heerlijke droomland
'k ben daar zo vaak aan 't dwalen
'k hoor naar den vog'len lied
't is of ze mij verhalen
van al het schoons dat men ziet
ref.
droomland droomland
oh ik ver- lang zo naar droomland
daar is steeds vree
dus ga met mij mee
samen naar 't heerlijke droom- land
zwerver gij vindt daar vrede
zieke gij kent geen pijn
daar wordt geen strijd ge- streden
daar waar mijn broeders nog zijn
ref.
droomland droomland
oh ik ver- lang zo naar droomland
daar is steeds vree
dus ga met mij mee
samen naar 't heerlijke droom- land
Daar vindt men jeugd en vreugd weer
Kent men geen arm en rijk
