Atmosphere while waiting in a bank of Calapan city (Oriental Mindoro, Philippines), with the counters slightly on the left.
Recorded in August 2025 with a Zoom H5studio and Immersive Soundscapes EarSight Binaural microphones.
Fade in/out and high pass filter at 60Hz -6dB/oct applied in Audacity.

Well, I suppose cicadas probably scream louder when they’ve lost their notbanks, don’t you think so ? ;-)
Just kidding;..
However and more seriously, I think there are different species of cicadas, each with their own sounds, and as you mentioned, I think their stridulation may vary according to the time and weather. This is probably why you can still hear some of them from time to time.

Strangely, I can sometimes hear cicadas - it depends on their frequency. Apparently they can sound different depending on different factors; time of day, light, temperature, brood dynamics..
.. whether they lost a banknote.
