Lively afternoon in a Filipino suburbs.
I made this recording during a pleasant afternoon, from the terrace of a house located at Santa Monica Heights, which is a costal residential area near Calapan city (oriental Mindoro, Philippines).
One can hear kids and teen-agers playing ball on the playground of the subdivision. In the background, some cicadas, birds chirping, and on the right side of the scene, people chanting for the Holy Mass held in the nearby seminary. On the left, one can also hear an entertainer talking in a microphone to comment a basket-ball contest taking place further. From time to time, few vehicles (mostly motorcycles) pass by.
At #5:05, the bell from the nearby church starts ringing. And at #8:10, one can hear the fog horn of a ship leaving the harbour of the city.
Recorded in July 2025 with a Zoom H6essential (built-in XY microphones).

Yes, it was a very pleasant Friday afternoon, a bit cooler as usually, and as the weather is often very hot in the Philippines, the kids were happy to enjoy it.
(and as I’m probably an old kid too, I was happy to record it, of course !)
