This sound is the result of overlaying a lot of fast click-tracks, in order to create a "wall of sound". I wanted it to sound like an old-timey science-fiction background, in which you'd hear computers churning out random things, made to sound and look as cold as possible.
12 very fast click-tracks (300bpm, 20 beats per mesure, each click is 10 milliseconds, and the sound used is a "ping") + 1 slow click-track (60bpm so 1 beat per second, 4 beats per mesure to give it a musical undertone, each click is 100 milliseconds and the sound is still a "ping") were overlayed with random delays: you can identify the pattern, but it doesn't sound regular.
