Dear freesounders,
I need your help: what bird can you hear on this recording?
It was recorded in the western parts of the Harz Mountains in Germany with a PCM-M10 recorder in September. Excuse the steps in the beginning of the recording.
The bird seems to stay in the same area.
Later: and thanks to Klangbeeld I know now what it is: A Black Woodpecker!

There are various birdsong identification apps, e.g. https://www.birdwatchingdaily.com/birds/field-guides-and-apps/best-birdsong-apps/, but they are not infallible.
