Recorded from a friend's backyard in Hamlin, NY, in the very early AM. Spring Peepers in the distance along with the faint chattering sounds of Wood Frogs. The echos of a more distant barking dog can also be heard. To record these distant sounds , I used a homemade parabolic dish with Radio Shack mic elements. The sound comes through as mono, as there is not enough separation in the mic elements and no divider in the dish. The mics are noisy, and the gain is set very high on the the preamp of my Sony MZ-NH1 HD minidisc recorder, resulting. I did some editing to reduce the hiss of the preamp.
