while helping a friend for he had to help his mother transporting an old handy chair (for puttings legs up and back down, like sub-lying) she had found on a yet to start thrift-activity (kringloop"winkel") in a church in WarmerHuizen in The North of NederLands (above Haarlem/Alkmaar(Adam) ) ;
my eye(s) and soul felt this clock, standing against the wall hided... The case was bad quality and considering the screws and glue from about 1960-1970, BUT the mechanical parts inside showed rather old (about 1890-1910 a assumed in a first glance)... but the fact it had only ONE and very heavy (5-7kg) weight with one pulley,and the fact the pendulum was more than 1 meter/metre long... AND the fact the gear-mechanics are very VERY simple basic and even with rather very old cogwheels used by the looped chain, it had to be could be much older than (earlier "born" than) 1890-1910... :
Contacting my "collegue" in Groningen (Henk Valk, a known old-clock-collector and -repairman and parallel specialized in cuckoo-clocks (no no; no cock-oooh--clocking or clooking hahahahaha ha ahum) ... he saw at the pictures I sent
it has to be for sure an older clock from about 1770 (1750-1775)... An English simple clock bought by poor people how could not afford a clock with two mechanics (one for the ticking, one for the gong/bells) and got not pay for the nice cases (often made this themselves) and heavy and beautifulle DOUBLE weights needed....
The chain nevertheless is NOT from 1750-1775... and that's important because the two gear-cogwheels needed to use the ONE-heavy-weight have ro real "teeth/angles" but just real 4-6 pins sticking out radial from the core of a wheel... so the chain has to have rather EXACTLY the "holes" in the chain on the right distance time/place by time/place... the NOW used chain is 99% perfect... but Henk might search for an old chain because it increases the value of the base of this clock even more... and apart from this; it (old chain) feels even nicer; than the whole core of the clock is souly old... hmmmmmm....
the gong/bell I edited a little bit lower because of the coming HaloWeen (in true essence the festivity to remember and commemoration and INTEGRATE (as if they are still alive almost...) of the died nearby/personallyknown people (like friends and family) ...
