Born in Recife, Pernambuco, Brazil, Ivan Cordeiro left Engineering to start filming Super 8 documenting Recife's rapid changes as depicted in “Censura Livre," his 28 minute experimental short film about the destruction of the city's cinema houses. An avid photographer, he shot , produced and edited several Super 8 films which have become known as “Novo Ciclo do Recife," a prolific cannon of films shot in the late 70s. Later on he started shooting 16 mm footage for documentarians as well 35 mm and was Production Assistant for Brazilian Filmmaker Tizuka Yamazaki's film “Parahyba Mulher Macho. “ After being accepted to study Radio TV and Film at California State University, Northridge he continued working in film and photography, and eventually upgraded his skills to include video media. Now as a Filmmaker living in Los Angeles and Northeast Brazil, he specializes in documentaries as well as online marketing strategies for companies seeking to brand their products via smart streaming multimedia integration. Fluent in English, Portuguese and Spanish, he provides comprehensive film and digital media services for the American and Latin American market. His films have been featured at Janela Internacional de Cinema do Recife, Curta 8, Mostra do Filme Livre and gives Super 8 Film Workshops in Brazil and the United States. He is currently working on a DocuFantasy about a super hero that retires in Brazil.
