I love it when it rains and thunders. Recorded from my back yard (under a veranda). The sounds of parrots and other birds can be heard as the thunder storm rolls in. Recording chain: AT3032 stereo mics (50 cm spacing) - Edirol R44 (digital recorder).

Pretty cool seeing the mic placement, although I was lamenting the fact that the rain seemed a good distance off. Therefore, in order to bring the rain to the front, I'll have to lose some dynamic range. The stereo effect is cool, but the majority of the sound came from the ground and you mics aren't pointed anywhere near the surface making it a faint, ambient sound. Still, I agree that the thunder is a great volume and it sounds like the R44 is working nicely for you.

Hmm, very beautiful. The thunderclaps are very impressively clear, thanks!
