Myopia is short sightedness (distance objects look blurry) and a common form starts at around 6 years of age and continues to increase in severity until about 16-18. The rate of progression determines how short-sighted the child will become. This presentation details the findings of a study where the rate of myopic progression in a group of school children wearing bifocal lenses (including base-in prism) was about half that in a group of children wearing standard (single vision) lenses.
