Short, sharp Magpie caroll. This is the sound of three birds. One starts then another two join in. Typical carrolling behavior.

Excuse me my ignorance but I thought that this delightful vocalisation by magpies was referred to as warbling. Obviously I thought wrong and so I stand corrected. Do you know if magpies do warble, and if not, which species (if any) does?

Yes it's carolling :) Magpies are one of the omni-present sounds of the Australian suburbs and outback.
