I placed a small electret condenser mic in a plastic bag and submerged it in the sink. I then removed the plug, this is the sound, at first from under-water then dry as the glugging starts...now I am not happy with the fidelity and am tempted to put an expensive stereo mic in there, what have I started? :)

Thanks, although I am not proud of this sample as the fidelity is poor. I have recently worked out a better microphone solution and will re-do this.

So that's where I was going wrong, I didn't use an electret condenser mic thingy. I've just spent an embarrassly long time trying to record the sounds of a basin waste discharging with my mobile phone and perhaps not surprisingly without success. A big thank you to the person who created this recording.
