New location - Hotinja vas is a settlement in the northwest of the Drava plain in the Municipality of Hoče-Slivnica.

The clustered flat settlement lies about 12 km south of Maribor between the Štajerska and Podravska motorways. The Maribor-Celje railway line also runs past it. The settlement consists of the old village core to the east and along the Hotinjska road and the newer part to the north, south and in the gaps between older houses. Hotinja vas is agglomerated with the smaller Orehovo vas, where there is a connection to the motorway and the railway line. In the centre of the village there is a fire station with a cultural centre, a village shop and a few other services. Most of the inhabitants work in Maribor, except for farmers, who are numerous in the Drava plain area. The part of the village east of the agglomerated settlement, called Hotinjska Agrarna, is also named after agriculture. Although the village is in the Municipality of Hoče-Slivnica, it gravitates much more towards nearby Rače and Maribor for services.
