Thanks for the compliments. The piece I used was an old trap door I made from 1/2" plywood with the frame made from 2 x 4's. During recording it was simply laid flat on the ground and pierced with the steel demolition bar. It took a while to find the sweet spot that produced the creaking sound. Here's the pic:

Fantastic recording! I'm curious, what size sheet of plywood did you use, and what did you use to brace the other end?
