Ho! Ho! Ho! Merry Christmas!
This sound had been recorded in the former printing facility of Pravda newspaper in Moscow. Once used to print the government's official daily newspaper for the entirety of USSR (imagine the size of this facility!), it's currently densely populated by various underground and not-so-underground shops, recording studios, rehearsal rooms for dancers and rock/metal musicians (that's why I've been there) and photo parlours. I saw the empty corridor, heard the hum and approached its source with Tascam DR-05. The sound is edited a bit: the high frequencies are cut off above 3964Hz with bandwith value of 1.49 (I use Reaper and the built-in parametric eq), in order to bring down the irritating squeal spiking at 11.3kHz.
