Binaural recording of a freight train passing from left to right, and accelerating slightly. The mic was about 20 feet from the track so it was quite loud. In fact the train shook the ground so much that it caused the mic to fall over at 1:11. The mics were mounted on a "fake head" on a stake which I had pushed into the ground, but apparently I did not push it far enough into the ground. This was my first attempt at recording a train with this mic set up and I obviously need to pull the gain down a bit and/or move a bit farther away. I go to this spot at least once a month for a meeting so I will keep trying until I get it right.

This is perfect for a dream sequence in a student project. Thank you for the recording!

Dave, sometime you should try to record a train going over the walkway at Multnomah Falls(sp?), the sound is huge and the feeling is awesome, tons of weight moving 10ft over your head at 35 miles an hour (I think that is full speed at that place in the track)
