Two jets are scrambled in a practice scramble drill. My host told me that in a practice scramble, they do everything the same as in a real scramble, they just do it more slowly.
The drill starts with an announcement over the PA system in the hangar: "Practice scramble over water. Practice scramble over water." This is followed by other alarms, fire trucks standing by, the jets starting up, then taxiing down the runway while other F-15s are also taking off. There is also some road construction equipment working nearby.
You can hear these two jets taking off in AnotherPairOfF-15s-SecondWithAfterburner.WAV
Recording chain: Sound Professionals SP-BMC-1 binaural mics on my "fake head", into Sony PCM-M10 recorder. No editing other than fade in/out.

Holy shit this is awesome.
Thanks so much for this, being able to see how our current first line fighter defenses operate is a real treat, from the ground vehicles, to the radio signals, to the sirens, and the jet engines doing their very first initial startup, you can rarely find any of this, let alone all of it at once...
Absolutely excellent recording too!
