I stopped and recorded Los Angeles canyon traffic on my way to work. Nice selection of engines, cars, etc. Was on a hill, so engines pull harder going one way than the other.

@RutgerMuller: I used two MC930s in an ORTF configuration. I think it was the mic placement which was optimal (and totally by chance, btw). I also used Pro Tools to clean up the recording with a low frequency soft-knee expander, some EQ and some VERY slight compression to inch up the overall perceived loudness.
