My laundry machines exist inside a closet and this is the sound of their exposure to the world (if you're wondering why i worded this so strangely, please reference my other sound, "coffee maker boiling water pour metal lid.wav") The handle on these twin hollow-core doors is purely decorative-- they're held closed by little spring-loaded latches up top. The opening and closing of each door sounds similar, but there's a slight difference... when the door is opened, you can sense the most mild of dramatic tension in that spring, as if it just wants to be left alone, and it complains loudly in the form of shaking metal. And when the door is closed, the latch slides happily into the recess that holds it closed... it's so happy to have regained its privacy and be at rest once again.
