This is an example of an auditory chimera, two sounds that are combined to make a new sound. In this case, I took the spectrum of bell ringing and modulated it with the envelope of a rocking chair. I have used these types of sounds to investigate the relative contribution of spectrum versus temporal structure to identification of familiar environmental sounds.
