March 14th, 2012

This recording documents a strong mid-summer winds on 07/23/2011 through black spruce (Picea mariana). The needles of the spruce make a high-frequency 'fizzing' sound. Early in the clip two curious boreal chickadees (Poecile hudsonicus) call about 2-3 meters from the microphone.

Because the wind was somewhat slowed at the ground level, there are very few windscreen artifacts in this record.
