An extended version of this story, says that Miles Salley, Bishop from 1500 - 1517, had his heart buried next to Tewdric. When Bishop Godwin had the grave at the high alter opened in 1610 a stone coffin and urn containing the heart was found, together with Tewdric's bones, the skull retaining the aperture of a large wound. The remains were reburied, and re-exhumed and re-interned in 1881 during church restoration.
