I recorded this using my small Sony Cybershot camera. You'll notice that the wind goes from loud to soft to loud again, repeating. This because I am opening the window wide and then after a few seconds I close the window but not completely so that I get some low whistling sounds from the wind. I recorded for 18 minutes and I used audacity to edit it.

  This is EXACTY what I was looking for. Its gritty enough to sound fresh and real, the clipping doesn't overpower the deep hollow gusts, it sounds like a cold mountain western. haha
