Thanks for your reaction. My Marantz certainly gets uncomfortably noisy when I use its power adapter. So I only use the adaptor when it's connected to my computer in order to transfer the data to my PC. Also, when I use phantom power, I also get a little more noise. (Although the frogs were recorded with phantom power turned on.) But the quality certainly is good enough to have great fun and so far I got the sounds I need for my "creations" out of it.
I was indeed close to the frogs : the nearest one was less than 1 metre away from my microphone.

I just can't say anything. Amazing. I used to do recordings with PMD670 also, but I gave up using it because of unbearable noise that preamp section of it adds to the sound. Your sound, however, is transparent. Maybe something is wrong with mine. Listening to the sound, I thought that you had recorded this one with your mic very close to frog chorus. Left and right signals are well separete.
