If you notice I shaped a quantized fade out.
I used WaveLab's/Process/Level envelope... [V]
and I created smooth fading out volume staircases [volume mantel-scales]
Smoothly quantized fade out [for drums mostly] sounds more natural than linear, exponential or logarithmic fade out.
For main-mixdown fade outs, I usually prefer linear that doesn't stop at 0dBs but allows a small low volume step [almost of constant volume for small amount of time, to mimic the tape noise that doesn't end like a robot], but then I create some nodes to smooth it out like an S shaped curve.
