One of a selection of modest recordings, gathered whilst on an exchange with the British Library Sound Archive.
Please note: The opinions of the protestors are not my own. This recording is in no way to promote or support the beliefs of the protestors, nor is it to debunk them.
Field recording taken on the steps of the High Commission of South Africa at Trafalgar Square, London on 7th June 2013. Lots of traffic and general London noise. The recording starts with the protest being fairly erratic. Over time it builds. I have left it complete, unedited bar about 10 seconds of audio where I was asked who I was and my reasons for being there.
Notable points in the recording include:
06:55 - Song (faint)
07:40 - Tensions raise
08:25 - Tensions raise
09:03 - Song (strong)
09:26 - Protestor talks directly
09:46 - Chant begins
Field recording is untouched, for each individual to EQ as they wish.
Recording Device: Zoom H2n
Microphone: Rode NT4
