Thanks! I'll use this to replace the loud and annoying "CONFERENCE RECORDING HAS BEEN STARTED" message on Polycom devices :)

    Thank you, Tempouser :)

I'm copying some talks from cassette to my computer, but the recording program also records all the beeps from opening folders and files with Internet Explorer. I have a lot of writing and studying to do, so I can't leave the computer alone for many hours at a stretch while an old cassette plays.

In Windows XP, there's no way to turn those sounds off. The thing to do is to record a few seconds of silence, then tell Windows XP to play that silent file instead of ding.wav.

I tried recording a few seconds of silence, but the silence wasn't actually silent! Every time I clicked something, I heard a - Whhhrrrr sound. I had some defective silence, it was too loud! Oh, the irony.

So this is just the thing, a silent wav file that is actually silent :)

Have an effervescent day with an uplifting yet subtly nuanced personality, Anthony
