Made this in bitwig, i used 17 different layers to make this. A kick drum is added before the gunshot to add punch. Sub bass is synthesized for the deep lowend, 30-50hz. All layers were selected for certain frequencies using eq and then processed together with multiband compression. Shell sounds, mechanical noises were added for more depth.
Using automation, the pitch, decay, and phase of every single layer used other than the subbass, morph to give life to the sound loop, and not sound robotic.
Even though it "might" sound real, its an illusion of sounds being played from a midi clip.

Wow! :|
Seriously impressed that this came from a midi sound, you are truly a master editor.
Definitely a war movie stalwart, and you got the speed just right too!
gotta love that satisfying Rata tat tat as the landscape is chopped apart by bullets. <3
Wish it was shorter, or came as a separate loop and tail, but I get the hole 100 rounds spray and pray thing, LOL.
Sounds somewhat low quality, probably something you wouldn't notice as much if it wasn't looped, and it kind of adds to the 80s war movie charm anyway.
The background belt sound is good, but pretty repetitive, however I know it's hard to improvise that kind of thing.
Thanks for this bad ass recreation!

This sound really reminds me of the machine guns in Battlefield One. Nice job!
