When I first arrived in Genova in 2004, I was amazed by the amount of dogs in the street and by the fact that people go everywhere with their dogs (public transport, restaurants, shopping centers, etc ...). You see dogs everywhere, unfortunately you can often even smell the dogs omnipresence in the city, but curiously you rarely hear them bark. This dog barking sound has been captured on the highest and oldest point of Genova, on Piazza Santa Maria in Passione, near casa Paganini. You can hear is bark bouncing on the walls of these historical buildings, which for me is a good representation of the omnipresence of dogs, like if they were part of the city itself.
