Reasonably successful attempt at recording the loudest possible snare drum hit possible on a sharply ringing piccolo snare. Used an SM58 mic above the snare, and two AKG room mics. Two recordings for the price of none. Plus editing....
Post-processing: there are two alternating hits (1-2-1-2-1-2, etc.), they get increasingly louder as the compression/limiting gets opened up. In the middle, its starts again, and this time the stereo width also gradually increases.
