We recorded an old cello with only three strings and broken pegs, so the strings could not be tuned (the lowest string was not even tense).
The sounds were recorded using an AT-2020 plus Zoom H6 XY Capsule in a medium sized home room with cement walls, wooden floor and furniture and an open wardrove.
The idea was to produce some standard sounds such as bowed tenuto, pizzicat, spiccatto, etc. and some unconventional sounds, like rubbing the strings with a finger, or making "horrible" resonant strident sounds over the bridge. The samples do not have tuned pitches nor follow any scale, an the purpose is to use them in an electroacoustic composition based on timbre.
