Are you a fan of humpback whale (Megaptera novaeangliae) song? If so, then the MBARI_MARS long playing (LP) series of humpback whale song recordings is for you. This recording is the second in the series.

Each of these recordings contains hours of continuous song captured with a quiet ocean background in deep water off Santa Cruz, California. These recordings are from an oceanic soundscape project. More information is available about this research and education project as well as the occurrence of humpback whale song off central California.

This recording also contains an excellent series of low frequency fin whale pulses toward the beginning, which you'll only be able to hear (feel really) with appropriate speakers (peak energy of the pulses is ~ 20 Hz).

The recording was made on 7 November 2017 and is available for your creative endeavors under the Creative Commons license. Please acknowledge Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute as the source of the recording.
