This blue whale D-call series was recorded through the hydrophone on the MARS cabled observatory on July 18, 2016. MARS is located on Smooth Ridge (36.7125N, 122.1869W), west of Monterey Bay at approximately 900 m depth. See http://www.mbari.org/at-sea/cabled-observatory/ for more information. A subwoofer or good headphone set is required to hear these low-frequency vocalizations.

wow! Talk about sub bass :) I'd read about low frequency whale calls but I had not heard anything like this before. Thank you!
