One hour classic ambient chill nature recording across a sawgrass, Cladium spp. filled savannah-like marsh in the St Marks National Wildlife Refuge. Sony PCM recorders set up in the top of a large wax myrtle, Morella cerifera, along the edge of the sawgrass marsh with Clippy microphones protected with fuzzy windshields and drybags. The wildlife night chorus began to diminish in intensity approaching the midnight hour, and I lucked out with the microphone placement. Because the frogs, birds and other wildlife were ten or so yards away (and further) from the mics, and as the midnight hour approached the chorus audio became more like laid-back ambiance chill rather than high intensity mating calls. I hear a number of frog species, such as Southern cricket frogs, Green tree frogs, Pig frogs along with Chuck Will's Widow, occasional Gallinules and mourning doves. The one hour nature recording is perfect for playing while studying, sleeping, etc., and captures the sawgrass essence of the St. Marks National Wildlife refuge at it's finest.
