One of the most active times for wildlife calls and songs is just after sunset. This audio clip is from an overnight recording session where I set up recorders a population of pines growing along the bank of a pond and used by Cormorants as a roost. The clip is approximately fifteen minutes long and features a variety of amphibian and bird calls, songs and other languages of nature. Even though this recording event took place deep in the St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge, overhead jet engine and vehicle background noise can be heard occasionally in the audio.
You will hear Southern field crickets (Gryllus spp.), Northern cardinal (Cardinalis cardinalis), Carolina wren (Thryothorus ludovicianus), Cicada (Cicadidae), Red-winged Blackbird (Agelaius phoeniceus), Cormorant (Phalacrocorax auritus), Gallinule (Gallinula galeata), Green tree frogs (Hyla cinerea), Pig frogs Lithobates grylio), Green Heron (Butorides virescens), and other wildlife. Sony PCM recorder with MikroUsi and wind bubbles. 9pm record time.
