A stereo recording of an old style telephone. This is a genuine Bell System Ringer Model 687A (8/70) made by Western Electric. It's a tan box about 15x13x6 cm. It was usually placed in a warehouse or far from the main phone so people would know they had a call. Recorded with a Sony ECM-99 Stereo Microphone from about 2 feet away to a SonyMD recorder. There may be a little room noise with amplification.

Your recordings are wonderful! Like Visievion, I was looking for this exact ring to use as a cell phone ringer.
A note, though... in your description, you're selling this effect short. It really ought to say, "Sounds exactly like a real desk phone from Ma Bell!" This is the standard phone ring that many of us remember from our earlier years.
For cell phone ringer use (depending on the phone's ringer volume), folks may want to raise the overall level a bit, not due to a low recording level, but just to bring it full scale for the cell phone. I normalized to -.1dB and it translated nicely.

Thank you, all I ever wanted my cell phone to do was ring like a normal phone again. I dont need a party in my pocket each time a call comes.. THANK YOU for a sanity save.
