One lonely sounding coyote howl. Recorded with a Zoom H4N in southern Illinois. I edited the file in Soundtrack Pro to take out some of the background ambient noise.

Glad to hear it Vegasflute. It's not easy to get coyotes; you have to be ready with a recorder handy when they start up. When I get something cool, it's fun to share it with others.

Really fit what I needed, the bugs and the coyote in the distance very nice. Great to have a variety of sounds on this site, What fits for one thing may not fit for another.
Thanks

That's weird that a coyote doesn't sound like a coyote. That's like saying "That Led Zeppelin song sounds nothing like Led Zeppelin" (even though it is). I didn't do any editing other than some noise reduction to lower the sound of all the insects and frogs. This was the last howl from the group of coyotes I recorded here: http://www.freesound.org/people/Danjocross/sounds/164202/
Coyotes have an incredibly varied vocal range.

Sounds nothing like a coyote, more like a wooden flute. Or maybe that is because of the editing/manipulation?

Shame the crickets are so much louder than the coyote
